Internet access is crucial for student success. Students are welcome to use the computers around the school, including those located in the Kraft Student Success Center, to access the Internet and course-specific programs. Many students also do their schoolwork at home. If you’d like to have Internet access at home or reduce the cost, check out the programs below! Some resources listed below also provide discounts for purchasing devices.

These resources are included here as an example of what is available through your community. It is the student’s responsibility to carefully evaluate all resources.

Affordable Connectivity Program

The federally-funded Affordable Connectivity Program helps cover the cost of Internet. This program provides a discount of up to $30 per month towards Internet service for eligible households. There are six companies in Massachusetts that offer free Internet plans through the ACP (learn more here).

In addition, the ACP includes a one-time discount of up to $100 to purchase a laptop, desktop computer, or tablet from participating providers if you pay for a small portion of the device (more than $10, less than $50).

You may be eligible if any member of your household:

  • Has an income at or below 200% of the federal poverty guidelines
  • Received a Federal Pell Grant as part of their financial aid package for this school year
  • Receives SNAP benefits
  • Enrolled in MassHealth
  • And more!

Find more information about applying and learn if you’re eligible here.

Lifeline is a government assistance program that provides low-cost cellphone or Internet service to qualifying individuals. Eligibility is based on income or participation in a qualifying federal program (like SNAP, Medicaid, or Social Security Income). To further reduce costs, you can receive a discount through both Lifeline and the ACP at the same time. To learn if you qualify: visit https://www.checklifeline.org.
