Students admitted to Franklin Cummings Tech must be assessed to determine their skill level in English and mathematics so they can be placed into the most appropriate entry-level courses. This assessment does NOT impact your acceptance or enrollment in the college.
- English Placement: the Admissions team makes assessments based on the English grade point averages on an incoming student’s high school transcript or HiSET/GED transcript.
- Math Placement: the college requires incoming students to take an ALEKS Placement, Preparation and Learning (ALEKS PPL) Assessment. If you have college credits for math, you do not need to take the ALEKS assessment. If you have questions, contact your admissions counselor to confirm.
How to Get Started
-
-
- If you received a communication from Admissions to take the ALEKS Math Prep and Learning assessment, first make sure you can log into the student portal (https://my.franklincummings.edu/) using your franklincummings.edu college email. You will need your franklincummings.edu email to create your ALEKS Prep and Learning Module account.
- Watch this short, instructional video to learn how to access the ALEKS platform and create your Aleks account. Enter this 10-character class code where prompted: RVUCD-PDRQD
- After creating your ALEKS account, you will be walked through a tutorial that shows you how to navigate the assessment.
- You will need to download software for the proctoring tool, Respondus; see the requirements here. You will get more information about the proctoring tool after you log into your ALEKS assessment.
- Complete your ALEKS assessment. You can practice as much as you want and you can take the full assessment up to four times. To make each attempt worthwhile, it is important that you spend time working in your ALEKS Prep and Learning Module between Placement Assessments so that you can improve your skills.
