Program Description
Through this partnership, IBEW Local 103 members can now apply both field experience and course work toward the completion of an Associate Degree in Engineering Technology, with a concentration in Renewable Energy Technology. Participants will receive 30 credits towards the degree, almost half of the credits required.
This is an incredible opportunity to further your career while receiving credit for the training you’ve already completed. Participants can complete the remaining degree requirements over a two-year period at a significant discount, taking as little as one course at a time. The majority of courses will be online, and required labs will be fulfilled at the IBEW Local 103 campus in Dorchester.
This new partnership will allow IBEW Local 103 members to further hone their craft, to gain a unique and more robust understanding of an increasingly critical facet of their trade (renewable energy), and earn college credentials that will advance career opportunities.
As the U.S. works towards renewable energy and sustainability, the US Bureau of Labor Statistics projects 105% employment growth for solar energy (photovoltaic) installations and 96% growth for wind turbine technicians by 2026. Our Renewable Energy Associate Degree program will prepare you for a rewarding career in these growing fields.
Financial Aid
Financial aid is available for this program. All applicants will be assessed for financial aid eligibility once they complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form.
Eligibility
Applicants must have completed the second year of the Apprenticeship Training at IBEW. Exception can be made with the Training Director’s letter of recommendation.
