— Why a Renewable Energy Technology career?

Over the last decade, clean/renewable energy and sustainability have become the two most prominent facets of power generation and energy management. The US Department of Energy recently announced it will spend nearly $125 million for solar technology research and the US Bureau of Labor Statistics projects 105% employment growth among solar photovoltaic installers and 96% growth among wind turbine technicians positions by 2026.

Associate of Science (AS) in Engineering Technology/Renewable Energy Technology Concentration

Renewable Energy Technology is one of the high-demand concentrations offered within our Engineering Technology Associate Degree program. You will prepare for a career assembling, installing, and maintaining green energy generation systems, including solar/photovoltaic and wind turbine systems.

The program content will be delivered through a combination of lectures and a range of weekly laboratory and training activities designed to teach and train you in the technical, analytical, and general education areas necessary to move your resume to the top of the pile. You will develop marketable skills in these four competency areas:

  • Electrical/Electronics: including circuit schematics, digital electronics, sensors and actuators, CD/AC principles, electrical codes and designs
  • Energy Systems: including photovoltaic systems, thermal systems and heat flow, energy auditing and economics, power generation techniques, and energy conversion and recovery
  • Mechanical/Construction Management: including thermodynamics, motors and control systems, programmable logic controllers, energy systems modeling, and sustainable building systems
  • General Education/Business: including algebra and trigonometry, calculus, project management, operations management, and ethics
