BFIT is pleased to team up with Google to offer the Google IT Support Professional Certificate as part of the curriculum for all of our Computer Information Technology certificate programs. The Google IT certificate prepares students for an entry-level IT support role.
What is IT Support?
IT support is one of the fastest growing fields in the U.S. When computer systems fail or hardware breaks down, IT support professionals are the skilled workers who solve the problems. Their median salary is about $53,470 a year.
Learn at Your Own Pace on a Schedule that Works for You
The certificate program is offered entirely online, so students can do all the coursework on their own schedule and at their own pace. Coursework must be completed within 5 months, which entails about five hours of study per week.
What You’ll Learn
The certificate is based on the training that Google developed to prepare its own IT support staff. Hosted on Coursera, the program consists of five courses that cover key topics in IT support, including:
- Troubleshooting
- Customer Service
- Networking
- System Administration
- Security
- Operating Systems
Coursework for the certificate includes a dynamic mix of video lectures, quizzes, and hands-on labs. Participants will also hear from Google employees with unique backgrounds and perspectives, whose own foundation in IT support served as a jumping off point for their careers.
Get Help Finding a Job
As an added benefit to the certificate program, students gain exclusive access to interview and resume prep resources in Google’s private Completer Community on Coursera. Students are also able to search for open roles on the Completer Community job board.
Those who complete the certificate program can choose to have their information sent to a consortium of leading employers who have agreed to consider Google certificate holders for their open positions. Members of the consortium include Bank of America, Cognizant, GE Digital, Google, Hulu, Infosys, MCPc, PNC Bank, RICO USA, Sprint, TEKSystems, UPMC, and Walmart and its subsidiary companies.
