Franklin Honor Society Inducts Fall 2021 Members

November 6, 2021

The prestigious Franklin Honor Society hosted its fall induction ceremony on November 3, welcoming 10 new student members.

Spearheaded by Peer Mentoring Coordinator Joey Annand, the touching event—which was held virtually—included a round of applause and cheers for each new student member of the honor society. The traditional candle lighting portion of the ceremony was replaced with a flickering candle image alongside each student’s name. The light of the candle is symbolic of knowledge and service.

“You’re all candles, you’re all bright stars in our college,” said Dean of Student Services Jackie Cornog. “Be bright stars and go help others.”

BFIT’s new student Franklin Honor Society members are:

  • Joseana Corriea (CIT)
  • Nicole Headley (OP)
  • Dylan Joyce (PE)
  • Jonathan Kirk-Elkin (PE)
  • Gregory Lespinasse (EE)
  • Thoai Nguyen (HVAC/PE)
  • Andie Rousseau (OP)
  • Ka Tae So (AT)
  • Tanejah Williams (OP)
  • Sonia Yahi (CIT)

Students with a cumulative grade point average of 3.35 who have no current grade below C and have successfully completed a minimum of 12 credit hours during the semester are invited to participate as Franklin Scholars.

In addition to becoming members of the Franklin Honor Society, the students are also now members of a new leadership group at BFIT called Franklin Leaders. This umbrella group also includes students involved in the following leadership activities: Orientation; Ambassadors; Advocacy & Awareness; and Diversity, Equity & Inclusion.

In a tradition that began in fall 2020, the Franklin Honor Society also inducted two staff members as honorary members in recognition of their outstanding contributions to BFIT that aid and support student success and achievement. Congratulations to Dean Jackie Cornog and Director of Information Literacy Sharon Bonk on becoming the newest members of the Franklin Honor Society.

Congratulations to all our new members of the Franklin Honor Society!
