Credit for Prior Learning

Credit for Prior Learning

What’s the fastest path to a degree and a career? It could be through credit for prior learning.

We believe if you’ve already mastered a college-level skill, you shouldn’t have to study it all over again. To respect your time and experience, we offer many ways for you to demonstrate what you already know. This way, you can take fewer courses and save time and money.

Here are the ways Franklin Cummings Tech offers students college credit for prior workforce programs, on-the-job training, certifications, and courses from other colleges:

  • Pre-Approved Credit Transfers: You may already have earned credit for courses at Franklin Cummings Tech thanks to our agreements with 20+ career and tech schools, colleges, unions, and nonprofits. Check the list for your connections here.
  • Exams and Certifications: Franklin Cummings Tech offers pre-approved credit for many exams and certificates, including APs (Advanced Placement), CLEP (College Level Examination Program), and industry-recognized credentials like CompTIA and Google. Check the list for your exams and certifications here.
  • Work and Life Experience: Your knowledge doesn’t just come from books. If you believe your professional experience or training is equivalent to a course in your program, please reach out to your Program Chair. We also welcome the Joint Services Transcript from military-connected students.
  • College Credits: To receive transfer credits for courses taken at other accredited colleges where you earned a C or better, please request an official transcript from those colleges to be sent to our college. We award credits for courses that are equivalent in content and credit hours to Franklin Cummings Tech courses.
