Women in STEM Luncheon
March 27, 2025
The college hosted its annual Women in STEM luncheon, part of our ongoing effort to support our female students and to help increase the pipeline of women in science, technology, engineering, and math professions.
The event featured inspiring remarks from Architect Isra Banks and current Health Information Tech student Zainab Oseni, as well as a delicious lunch spread and decorations provided by Teixeira Family Catering.
Banks, Senior Project Architect at Gannett Fleming and a faculty member of Boston Architectural College, told the students that she often felt underestimated and discouraged in her early days as a woman breaking into the architecture field.
“I knew the only way to prove everyone wrong was to persevere,” she said. “Women belong in tech. We bring a fresh perspective and our ability to multi-task is unmatched. Surround yourself with a strong support system. You can’t do this alone.”
Oseni, who will graduate with her associate degree in Health Information Technology in May, said she has found invaluable support at FC Tech through mentorship programs, student clubs, and other activities. “Attend info sessions, ask questions, and make connections,” she said. “One day, you might be a mentor and a leader.”
The Women in STEM luncheon was sponsored by the offices of Student Affairs and Early College.
