Discounted Transit Fares with MBTA Youth Pass

MBTA Youth Pass graphicThe MBTA’s Youth Pass program offers reduced fares on the bus, subway, Commuter Rail, Express Bus, and ferry to young adults with lower incomes. These special CharlieCards can be loaded with cash value for roughly 50% reduced one-way fares, or $30 monthly LinkPasses!

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Live in a participating city
  • Be 25 or younger
  • Be enrolled in a job training or state/federal benefit program

Qualifying programs include: MassHealth, SNAP, MassGrant, Public Housing Assistance, Franklin Cummings Tech’s HVAC&R, Practical Electricity, & Automotive certificate programs, and many more!

Participating Towns include: Boston, Brockton, Brookline, Cambridge, Chelsea, Everett, Framingham, Medford, North Shore towns, Quincy, Revere, Somerville, Watertown, Worcester, and more!

Reminder: Youth Pass CharlieCards expire on November 1 each year, regardless of when they were received. You’ll need to re-apply each year to get a new card.
