Are you a parent and a student in the Boston area? Do you need help with childcare while you are in class during the day, evening, or weekend? Do you qualify as low income? Sitters for Scholars can help.
Sitters For Scholars (formerly Sitters Without Borders) is a first-of-its-kind non-profit organization. The Brookline-based organization offers free and low-cost evening babysitting services to low-income parents attending college in the Greater Boston area. Its volunteer sitters are committed to helping parents pursue higher education and elevate their economic position.
How It Works
Sitters For Scholars services rely on experienced, trained, volunteer babysitters who live in the Greater Boston area. Families are provided with a free 4-hour babysitting session per week with the same volunteer to help support consistency within families. Sitters get matched with their families based on availability, geographic location, experience, and preferences. Additional sessions per week are available for a low flat fee of $20 for 4 hours.
