From Prison to Green Jobs for Ex-Inmates

The college’s Prison and Reentry Education Program (PREP) was highlighted in a recent front page Boston Globe article titled “From prison to green jobs: Ex-inmates among new workforce powering state’s climate goals.”
PREP was launched in 2019 with our first cohort of students from the School of Reentry at Boston Pre-Release Center. Through our new partnership with Action for Boston Community Development, Inc., Franklin Cummings Tech will provide stronger support for students studying for cleantech careers through our School of Reentry program with the Massachusetts Executive Office of Public Safety and Security. We are grateful for ABCD’s collaboration and the incredible role they play in connecting individuals transitioning from incarceration to community with wraparound support, academic resources, and job opportunities.
“By doing this, not only are we helping our students get these jobs and reducing recidivism, but we’re also helping the employer meet their workforce needs,” said Damany Fisher, Ph.D, Special Advisor to the Dean on Prison Education Programs.
