Franklin Cummings Tech Opticianry student Camille Dubois was named the winner of the nationwide College Bowl contest at Vision Expo East, held in March at the Javits Center, New York City. Vision Expo East is an annual event for ophthalmic professionals focusing on eyewear, education, and fashion.
Dubois, a second-year student in the Opticianry associate degree program, will be graduating in May.
The National Federation of Opticianry Schools (NFOS) College Bowl, which is sponsored by Essilor Luxottica, is a competition modeled on a gameshow that features questions in anatomy and physiology of the eye, ophthalmic dispensing, ophthalmic fabrication, contact lenses and optics. The stakes are high—in addition to school bragging rights, the winner takes home a $500.00 first place prize.
