Important Financial Aid Update
January 17, 2024
Students applying for financial aid will see a different online FAFSA application form for 2024-2025.
It’s essential to submit the new FAFSA if you plan to enroll in college next fall. It unlocks federal, state and school-based financial aid, including student loans, need-based grants, work-study and even some scholarships. Some state and institutional aid is limited, so submitting the FAFSA as soon as possible can expand the pool of aid you’ll have access to.
The redesigned 2024-25 FAFSA will make it easier for college students from low-income backgrounds to qualify for federal Pell Grants, an award of up to $7,395 per year that doesn’t need to be repaid. Some other major changes to the FAFSA form for 2024–25 are the ability to access the status of your FAFSA form in your StudentAid.gov account and the ability to have your FAFSA information sent to up to 20 colleges, career schools, or trade schools. There’s also a new term—contributor—being introduced on the 2024–25 FAFSA form.
