Celebrate Opticianry in Massachusetts at the 2024 Eye Ball, an evening of Introductions, Testimonials, Awards, and Appreciation with current Franklin Cummings Tech students, alumni, industry and corporate partners, directors, members, and honored guests.  This free event is sponsored by the Opticianry Department in partnership with the Opticians Association of Massachusetts and will be preceded by a Career Fair featuring industry partners.

Career Fair is 5-7 PM in the college lobby; Eye Ball is 7-9 PM in the Auditorium.

Refreshments will be served.

We will explore the rich cultural history of the square and share “behind the scenes” updates on the construction of our new campus. Join us for a post-event reception held at Roxbury Innovation Center (2300 Washington Street, 2nd floor, Roxbury) with Lara Tavares, Director of Early College and Community Connection at Franklin Cummings Tech. Speakers

Board Chair Turahn Dorsey will open the conversation with welcoming rearks. Java with Jimmy host, James Hills, will moderate the panel discussion. Panelists will include Gustavo Quiroga, MBA, Executive Director (Local Initiatives Support Corporation); Willie Bodrick, II, J.D., M. Div, President and CEO (The American City Coalition); and Basma Mewafy, Ph.D., MS, Assistant Professor of Renewable Energy Technology (Franklin Cummings Tech)

After the discussion we will conduct a construction site tour at the future home of our new campus in Nubian Square from 6:00pm-6:30pm. Join us to get a behind the scenes look at our construction progress.

This event aims to uplift women in STEM fields, especially the Tech and Trades industries, by enjoying a meal together and taking part in activities centered around the sharing of real-life experiences for women who work in these industries. By providing opportunities for connection an and networking we hope that attendees will be able to learn something new and be inspired by the fantastic women around them.
