Welcome to Summer Learn and Earn Students
July 12, 2023
Franklin Cummings Tech welcomed more than 100 Boston high school students to campus this week for an Orientation session to kick off the third annual Summer Learn and Earn program, a unique opportunity for high school juniors and seniors to earn money while taking college-level courses. The program—which is a partnership between the college and the City of Boston—also gives students access to team meetings, academic coaching, and college readiness activities such as campus tours and financial aid information sessions.
Through the Summer Learn and Earn program, participating students are able to:
- Take a FREE college course or class. This year, students will be taking courses throughout the summer in HVAC Technology, Google IT, Business, Marketing, or Web Design.
- Earn $250/week for 7-8 weeks
- Earn 3-6 college credits or get MA State Certification
- Attend Fridays in person for networking enrichment and professional development activities
- Meet with an academic coach
- Get college readiness support
While on campus, the students took a tour of the Franklin Cummings Tech classrooms and labs, met with their academic advisors and faculty, and heard a presentation about finances from a Bank of Boston representative.
