2024 Spring Career Fair Connects Students with Top Employers
April 10, 2024
Franklin Cummings Tech’s Spring Career Fair was a bustling event, bringing together 211 students, 23 recent graduates, and more than 50 top employers from industries including automotive, clean energy, construction, engineering & engineering technology, HVAC&R, information technology, real estate, and more.
The Spring Career Fair—the college’s premiere career event—ties directly into the college’s mission to provide transformative technical and trade education that leads to economic advancement. The career fair provides students, soon-to-be graduates, and recent alums with opportunities for internships, as well as part-time and full-time jobs in their chosen fields.
“The energy of the day was definitely heightened and students were completely engaged,” said Michael Felix, Director of Career Services. “They were able to work with their success coach on a professional outfit and a personal pitch and they really showcased how much work they did to research the companies they wanted to target.”
Harry Rodriguez, a 2023 graduate of Franklin Cummings Tech’s Construction Management associate degree program, was at the fair recruiting students for his employer, Dellbrook|JKS. He started at the company as a summer intern and after graduation was hired into its Construction Immersion Program (CIP), a two-year rotational program where he will develop technical and leadership skills through a wide range of assignments across all phases of a project. Amazingly, the project Rodriguez has been assigned to is the construction of Franklin Cummings Tech’s new campus building in Nubian Square.
“It is the most unique experience in construction,” Rodriguez said. “To graduate from this college and then be a part of all the roles involved in building the new [Franklin Cummings Tech] campus. I’m passing on the knowledge the professors gave me here to the team at Dellbrook.”
Carla Lynch, Talent Acquisition Manager for Arbella, said her company has had great success with its hires from Franklin Cummings Tech and she was hoping to find more good candidates at the fair for a number of IT roles and internships.
“We’ve had a great track record recruiting here,” she said. “The students are very hard-working, eager to learn, and have those fundamental skills.”
Dr. Nicholas Vance, Post Secondary Education Specialist & Strategic Initiatives Manager at National Grid, said he was at the fair to recruit for open positions and for the company’s Summer Academy, which connects students with mentors and professional development opportunities as well as potential employment.
“The students here are prepared,” Vance said. “The school has done a great job and we’ve had great experiences with the graduates. They’ve moved up very quickly in the company.”
Franklin Cummings Tech will also host a special Opticianry Career Fair on May 14th during the annual Eye Ball.
