Carrie Lavigne is Fundraising for Franklin Cummings Tech

I am honored and thrilled to be able to raise funds for Franklin Cummings Tech  and specifically for the emergency fund that allows students to focus on their education!
I come from a long line of skilled tradesmen and know the value of the skills taught here. My grandfather was an orphan who was born just about the time the college opened in 1908.
In my home state of Indiana, he was able to learn technical skills as an apprentice that provided him with the opportunity to contribute to and be a valuable member of his community.  My father then followed in his footsteps. Thus, the goals, vision, and purpose of Franklin Cummings Tech are near to my heart.  My grandfather’s life would have been easier if he could have had access to funds for housing and food while he was  learning his trade.  I hope that students lives can be made  a little less stressful with the funds we raise.
As a history major, I am also touched to play a small role in continuing Benjamin Franklin’s vision and goal to help individuals learn valuable skill sets that have and continue to strengthen and build this community.

Running is my passion that I found later in life.  I have run the Boston Marathon 6 times since 2018 and I wanted to find a way to give back to the Boston community for their efforts and sacrifices involved with putting on the greatest marathon in the world!   It has brought me such great joy every year and I hope that my running Boston in 2025 and raising funds for the students of Franklin Cummings Tech will provide joy to the students by hopefully making their lives a little easier so they can get to that graduation finish line.  I will be running every step of the Boston Marathon from the start line in Hopkinton to the finish line on Boylston Street with that thought on my mind!
