
Black History Month Panel Focuses on Support and Self Care

The college’s Business Leadership and the Black Community panel and lunch event featured business and community leaders who encouraged students to surround themselves with people who lift them up and celebrate their successes.
“Black love is black wealth,” said panelist Ryan Robinson, founder of Conduit Computing and a patented inventor, entrepreneur and educator whose work spans biotechnology, quantum engineering, and business innovation. “We all need to support each other.”
The panel, held as part of the college’s Black History Month celebration series, also featured:
- Kervin Leonidas, Franklin Cummings Tech success coach (panel moderator)
- Jacquette Van Zandt, vice president of engagement, The Partnership Inc.
- Michelle Miller Groves, PhD, chair of the Franklin Cummings Tech Business Management bachelor’s degree program
- Raven Aqui James, ’19AS Automotive Technology graduate and current HVAC&R Technology student
Miller Groves encouraged students to b respectful of people they encounter throughout their careers. “Don’t burn your bridges and respect everyone along your pathway,” she said. “You never know who’s going to come back and help you later.”
Catering and event services were provided by standout soul food restaurant Maxine’s on Saint James and the Teixeira family. The event was hosted by the Student Affairs and Early College offices.
